PSAT accommodations
Requests, documentation and appeals, handled with you from start to finish.
The PSAT is given at school, often in the fall, so an accommodations request may need to be in place early in the school year. College Board decides the request, and an approval generally carries forward to the SAT and AP exams.
Who decides: College Board Services for Students with Disabilities (SSD), with the test given by your school. Policies and deadlines change, so always confirm current rules on the official accommodations page.
How the process works
- Ask the school's SSD coordinator to submit the request to College Board well before the school's PSAT date.
- Provide documentation showing the disability and how the accommodation is used on school tests.
- Because approval usually carries to the SAT, treat the PSAT request as the foundation for later College Board testing.
Where requests go wrong
- Waiting until junior year, when the PSAT and SAT deadlines start to stack up.
- Assuming the school's own testing arrangements count as College Board approval.
- Testing at a different school without coordinating accommodations there.
How we help with PSAT accommodations
We review your history and documentation, identify gaps before you file, coordinate with your school, program or evaluator, and prepare a request that answers the questions reviewers actually ask. If you have already been denied, we map each stated reason to the evidence that addresses it and build the appeal or reconsideration.
Already denied? Deadlines to respond are often short. Contact us as soon as you receive the decision, and see our guide to what to do after a denial.
Talk it through before you file
Tell us which exam you are taking, your test date and where things stand. The first consultation is free, and we will tell you honestly whether we think we can help.
