ACT accommodations
Requests, documentation and appeals, handled with you from start to finish.
ACT accommodation requests are submitted through ACT's TAA system, usually by a school official. ACT issues a Decision Notification that lists each accommodation and the reason any was not approved.
Who decides: ACT, through its Test Accessibility and Accommodations (TAA) system. Policies and deadlines change, so always confirm current rules on the official accommodations page.
How the process works
- Register for a test date, then work with the school's test accessibility coordinator to submit the request in TAA.
- ACT reviews documentation and the student's history of using the accommodation in school.
- If something is denied, ACT allows a reconsideration request, which must be complete and submitted before that test date's accommodation deadline.
Where requests go wrong
- Treating the first submission as a draft. A reconsideration needs to answer every reason ACT gave.
- Vague teacher statements that don't confirm how and when the accommodation is used.
- Missing the deadline for the chosen test date, which can push testing to a later date.
How we help with ACT accommodations
We review your history and documentation, identify gaps before you file, coordinate with your school, program or evaluator, and prepare a request that answers the questions reviewers actually ask. If you have already been denied, we map each stated reason to the evidence that addresses it and build the appeal or reconsideration.
Already denied? Deadlines to respond are often short. Contact us as soon as you receive the decision, and see our guide to what to do after a denial.
Talk it through before you file
Tell us which exam you are taking, your test date and where things stand. The first consultation is free, and we will tell you honestly whether we think we can help.
